Opinion and review

The book is better than this movie. And that statement is true even for those of you who did not realize that Ender’s Game was adapted from a novel. Written by novelist United States , Orson Scott Card , Ender 's Game is a science fiction novel that holds so many metaphors about the social life and political human though sequences of characters and conflicts that occur in it makes this novel a glance just seen as a tale that is oriented to the young adult . The content of socio-political satire wrapped in science fiction is able to make the text of a story, directed by Gavin Hood (X - Men Origins: Wolverine, 2009) was so strong in a challenging intellectual abilities of the audience. Unfortunately , in most part , just like too Hood trying to make Ender 's Game as a presentation by the attraction a la Hollywood blockbuster movies are ( too ) wide so that makes this movie just like losing many directions at once an essential part in its telling.

Ender 's Game 's set in the future where human beings just trying to bounce back after a group of aliens from outer space came and attacked the Earth . To prevent the arrival once again attack the alien from outer space in the future , the military who called themselves the International Fleet Battle School have formed and Command School where they will train the children chosen to be a soldier and defend planet Earth when the aliens from outer space came back to attack . One of the children who so desire to be able to take part in the defense forces of the Earth is Andrew Wiggin ( Asa Butterfield ) or “ang” more fondly called by the name of Ender . As the third child in the family, Ender has a tough attitude like his older brother , Peter ( Jimmy Pinchak ) , as well as a deep sense of affection as his older sister , Valentine ( Abigail Breslin ) . Combined with his personal intelligence, Ender figure attracted the attention of Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford ) and Major Gwen Anderson ( Viola Davis ) , who then put their attention on Ender and believe that he is a hero who had been looking for them .

But , of course , a trip to cover a wide range of training in Battle School is not at all easy . Apart from having to face a variety of challenges that test physical toughness as well as the brain and emotional intelligence , Ender also still dealing with some other students who tried to stand in his way . With all due diligence , Ender managed easily prove various advantages . Because of that, the International Fleet Ender then instantly bring war to the region - although without the approval of Major Gwen Anderson who thought he was too young . Colonel Graff Ender wants to be a formidable figure and instill him that the extermination of an entire race of aliens from outer space would be a safe way for all humans on Earth's surface . The idea was then slowly began to haunt Ender . Loving nature that is in him and then began to bring Ender to know more about who the real enemy will he face .

Apart from the various philosophies that want delivered through the story , Gavin Hood seems to prefer to deliver Ender 's Game into the beginning of a series of recent franchise aimed at the young adult audience . At the same time , this is precisely what makes it seem Hood gets overwhelming odds in exploring Ender 's Game in total . True that Hood is able to present this film to order the production quality is so stunning but Hood then compromising display uses advanced production technology department with the development of the story and the characters are so limited . Look at how the characters portrayed Ender 's so close to Valentine's character but was never given an explanation for why he was in such close touch with her brother . Or how Ender is described as having a heart so tender and loving the enemy is able to kill even virtually eliminate challengers lives - or the opposite . Full of conflict failed to properly excavated .

Potentials is what clearly outlines that the novel version of Ender 's Game clearly has a content story ( and philosophy ) more in-depth , ranging from the concept of the use of children as soldiers by how people choose to destroy something that is not known for being dangerous without trying to learn something new appears in a flash of Ender 's Game movie story but was never really able to powerfully presented . Emphasis young adult franchise can also be felt in the row created dialogue Hood - who chose to present the dialogue row so mild that they often sound silly or even ridiculous .
Although the beginning of the story that support comments tend to be dark, but can be felt so strongly, Gavin Hood unfortunately fails to explore various angles of storytelling and a row of characters in Ender's Game in greater depth. As a result, Ender's Game does look so convincing when speaking visually and from the order of the quality of other production but in terms of storytelling ... Ender's Game was running without a strong focus and end up losing so many elements of emotional (and intellectual) that should be able to be presented by the plot of the movie this. Summit Entertainment's first clearly wanted the Ender's Game series will be entailed as a franchise with a long series. But with results like this ... probably will not be many viewers who are interested and curious about what will happen in the next series.
